Surat noted weak sentiments amid stability in polyester spun yarn. Viscose yarn was also traded at previous levels. A trader from this market told Fibre2Fashion, “Buyers were silent as they were not clear about the implications of the new payment rule. They were avoiding placing any orders as they will not be able to make payments till March 31 this year.”
Polyester and viscose yarn prices remain stable amid slow demand. In Surat, 30-count polyester spun yarn was traded at ₹137-138 per kg (GST extra), 40-count poly spun yarn at ₹149-153 per kg, and 30-count viscose compact yarn (local) at ₹197-200 per kg (GST extra), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
In Mumbai also, viscose yarn prices were stable, but sentiments were weak. According to a trader, liquidity further dried up due to payment concerns. If the government does not take steps, demand may remain sluggish until the end of the current fiscal in April. Imported 30-count viscose vertex yarn was priced at ₹181-186 per kg. Local 30-count ring spun viscose yarn was quoted at ₹190-193 per kg, as per TexPro.
However, the Ludhiana market saw an upward trend in PC yarn as costlier cotton increases the cost of production. Cotton yarn had also noticed a steep rise in the last two weeks. A trader from the Ludhiana market told F2F, “PC yarn prices increased ₹2-3 per kg in the last couple of days. However, trade was not good as traders were more focused on cash management instead of trading activities. The market may remain under pressure in the next 40 days during the current fiscal.”
Polyester-cotton yarn increased by ₹2-3 per kg in the last couple of days but polyester spun yarn prices eased ₹2 per kg. In Ludhiana, 30-count PC combed yarn (48/52) traded at ₹210-221 per kg (GST inclusive), 30-count PC carded yarn (65/35) at ₹196-206 per kg, 30-count polyester spun at ₹150-156 per kg (GST inclusive) and recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) at ₹71-73 per kg.
North India cotton prices steadied today after a decline in the last trading session. Traders said that cotton prices had seen a fall of ₹40-50 per maund of 37.2 kg on the last evening after the news of the removal of import duty on ELS cotton. The policy measure discouraged buyers from placing new orders. Cotton prices steadied today amid slow demand from spinning mills. Today’s arrival was noted at 14,000 bales of 170 kg. State-wise arrivals were noted as Punjab 1,500 bales, Haryana 4,000 bales, upper Rajasthan 4,500, and lower Rajasthan 4,000 bales. Cotton was priced in Punjab at ₹5,575-5,625 and in Haryana at ₹5,525-5,625, upper Rajasthan at ₹5,400-5,650 per maund of 37.2 kg. Bikaner region’s cotton was sold at ₹5,650-5,700 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced at ₹53,500-55,000 per candy of 356 kg.
