Kingpins New York, this year, will focus on sustainability, social responsibility, and innovation in the denim industry. The leading denim trade fair will be held on November 19-20, 2019, at Pier 36, 200 South Street, New York. This season, show organisers are focusing all Kingpins New York panels on important social and environmental issues.

The United Nations Office for Partnerships and Conscious Fashion Campaign will host ‘Denim Industry Impact: Conscious Strategies for the Sustainable Development Goals’ on November 19, 2019. Moderated by Lucie Brigham, chief of office, United Nations Office for Partnerships, the panel will feature Kerry Bannigan, founder, Conscious Fashion Campaign; Sara Kozlowski, director of education and professional development, Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA); and Michele Sizemore, SVP global product development, GAP.

On November 19, 2019, Delivering Good, a non-profit that receives new product donations from hundreds of companies in the fashion, home, and children’s industries and donates them to millions of kids, adults, and families facing poverty and disaster each year, will host ‘Philanthropy As Pathway to Sustainability’, a panel discussion exploring ways in which brands can use their new, excess product to benefit others and the planet. Hosted by Delivering Good’s director of product procurement, Merrie Keller, the panel will include Kerry Bannigan of Conscious Fashion Campaign, according to a press release on the show.

Kingpins Trend S/S 2021 Garment Installation will be a curated selection of garments designed by Kingpins exhibitors, inspired by the Kingpins trend forecast developed by Amy Leverton and Sam Trotman of Denim Dudes. Designers can visit the installation for design, fabric and styling inspiration.

The Conscious Fashion Campaign x United Nations will focus on sustainable development goals and describe how the United Nations wishes to partner with industry to achieve their goals. A new feature of the show, the Kingpins Market, will be a collection of retailers, artisans, vintage dealers and more. Stop by for indigo inspiration and appreciation.

Barcelona-based indigo artist Olga Guarch will present her indigo-inspired collection of paintings. UK-based textile designer Paul Vogel will bring his loom and archive of textile designs. The London-based Vintage Showroom will display a gorgeous selection of vintage garments and sell Worn / Kingpins Volume 1, a collaboration born out of the mutual respect and friendship between The Vintage Showroom and Kingpins Show.

Visitors can shop a collection of goods from Brooklyn-based Curious Corners, which specialises in indigo workshops and dyeing services, and produces products and events in order to tell the rich history of indigo and other textile traditions in Japan.

Presented by Sam Trotman of Denim Dudes, the Kingpins Denim Trends for S/S 2021 forecast will feature the four trends that will define the season. Included in the forecast: research + references, mood and styling direction, key colour selections, and more.
