Lenzing has announced its plan to bring its Tencel branded fibres for hospitality industry in India to power the comfort and performance-driven category with environment-friendly materials. Lenzing has already been partnering with some of the leading home and furnishing brands and manufacturers of the country like D’décor, Welspun, Trident, Spread Home, etc.

Lenzing works with some of the major international home décor brands such as Pottery Barn, Quilts, Home, Hefel, Ikea and West Elm to name a few.

The travel and tourism sector has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. As per the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) annual research, the sector grew at 3.9 per cent to contribute a record $8.8 trillion and 319 million jobs to the world economy in 2018. Such growth also brings the need for sustenance. With a growing population and increasing tourists, the hospitality industry is looking into ways they can make tourism more sustainable and eco-friendlier, especially in the bed, bath and linen segment. There is an urgent need for sustainable alternatives for fibres with performance features to the current ones available in the market.

With Tencel Home nature meets luxury. Tencel Home fibres are wood-based cellulosic fibres produced under environmentally responsible processes, offer long-lasting natural comfort and pure living environments. Tencel Home comprises of Lyocell and Modal fibres which are naturally gentle on the skin with an exquisitely soft touch, enhancing your quality of sleep and guest experience. The products find their application in all aspects of home – bedsheets, quilts, pillows, towels, carpets and upholstery. These fibres are 100 per cent biodegradable.

“In recent times, the hospitality industry has seen a rising trend towards incorporating eco-friendly products and amenities to achieve sustainable goals as well as their overall brand vision. We aim, to support this vision through Tencel Home,” said Avinash Mane of Lenzing India.

Comfort and performance have become two deciding factors by guests to make their hotel experience novel. Guests feel the need to experience homely experience during their travel. Hotels and the hospitality industry have realised these needs and to fulfil them are shifting towards products that deliver this innovative experience. Products created out of Tencel Lyocell/modal fibres help empower the cotemporary and future requirements of the industry.

Tencel is the textile specialty brand under The Lenzing Group that covers textile specialty product offerings for apparel and home. The Tencel product brand portfolio defines a new evolutionary step in terms of sustainability, functional benefits, natural comfort and caters to distinctive everyday usage or application. Product brands under Tencel include Tencel Active, Tencel Denim, Tencel Home, Tencel Intimate and Tencel Luxe.

Featuring botanic origin and biodegradable quality, Tencel Modal and Tencel Lyocell fibres can enhance the breathability of fabrics and have a minimal static charge when used in fabrics. Fabrics made of Tencel Modal and Lyocell fibres are also gentle on skin with smooth, long-lasting softness, colour vibrancy and colour retention features. Through moisture management, Tencel Lyocell fibres absorb moisture efficiently. With less available moisture formed on the surface of the fibre for bacteria to grow, Tencel Lyocell fibres provide a less favourable environment for bacterial growth, offering better hygienic qualities. Moisture management and thermal regulation fibre properties can be found in Tencel Home and Tencel Active branded fabrics.

Fibres used under the Tencel brand are derived from certified and controlled sources following the stringent guidelines of the Lenzing Wood and Pulp Policy. Namely, Tencel Modal and Tencel Lyocell, both cellulosic fibres are produced via responsible production processes and are compostable and biodegradable. Tencel Modal and Tencel Lyocell are designated by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) BioPreferred Program.
