Maglificio Ripa, producer of knitted fabrics on circular and high-gauge looms, invests 10 per cent of its turnover in technological upgrades and sustainability, both in power supply and water supply. Technology upgrade is the most important factor and the more upgrade a company brings to a technology, the more sustainable it becomes, as per the firm’s head.

“Last year we replaced all humidification and conditioning systems throughout the entire production plant. Over the last ten years we have reduced water consumption by 20-30 per cent by recycling and investing in sophisticated output and input purifiers aimed at optimising water reuse. Water is partially reused for dyeing while the generated heat is used to heat up the production plants,” Luca Bianco, CEO, Maglificio Ripa told Fibre2Fashion.

The company has invested in the technology to be able to cut down on water waste and also recycle waste water, thus obtaining excellent purified water for use. “We are following the direction of the technology at the service of the environment, and in the textiles business we are among the most virtuous companies working on this,” he added.

Bianco suggested constantly upgrading technology; recycling and using alternative eco-sustainable sources; and monitoring consumption and developing eco-sustainable fabrics as the measures for reducing water consumption and pollution in the textile industry.

“Never miss a single step on the way to sustainability. Never surrender,” he concluded. (KD)
