MODA, the UK’s leading fashion and footwear trade event, has announced line-up of guest speakers. The speakers will head the industry-defining programme of talks discussing major topics and the big issues affecting UK fashion right now – straight from the figures shaping the way we engage with fashion every day. It will be held from February 17-19, 2019.

Kicking off the programme with the morning session on February17, 2019, is Amy Hobson of SocialB. Instagram and Pinterest are bursting with fashion potential, and Hobson will demonstrate how to harness these platforms to build massive customer engagement. She has over 20 years’ experience working across industries developing an expertise in marketing and business development with a focus on franchising and retail. Her passion for delivering training programmes comes from her ability to translate how digital marketing works, creating ‘light bulb moments’ for delegates with the knowledge and a plan they can apply to their own business, according to a press release.

The afternoon session welcomes fashion forecaster Sarah Jackson who will discuss the key trends to buy into for AW19, how to grow brand awareness, and engagement through social media platforms and turn it into sales. With over 20 years of experience working within the fashion industry, her expertise as a buying and trend consultant has seen her work with a host of brands such as Mint Velvet, Next, and Superga. She is a frequent guest lecturer at Nottingham Trent University on the fashion management degree courses and a tutor for MBA students.

During his morning talk on the February 18, 2019, Darryl Adie, CEO of Ampersand, an ecommerce agency that works with retailers in need of a step change in their ecommerce strategy, will offer visitors deep insights into what’s really happening in the world of fashion retail this year with his talk on ‘Fashion & Multichannel: Findings from Ampersand’s 2019 Multichannel Retail Report’.

Industry veteran Andy Lyons will discuss the latest trading report from financial experts PwC. Using his 30 years’ experience, Lyons will review the data on Christmas trade, retail in the Midlands, and future business opportunities. He sits within PwC’s assurance practice and has over 30 years of experience at PwC. Originally starting his professional career at Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Nottingham, he then went on to spend two years in New York before returning to the Midlands, where he has remained ever since. His skills include advising large international corporates on audit and financial reporting matters.

Instagram marketing expert Sam Burgess will talk on how not to get lost amongst the noise and to find your authentic brand voice, by building trust with your audience and converting followers to customers. He is the founder of Small and Mighty and a leading expert in content marketing, independent retail and modern-day consumer behaviour with a career spanning over 15 years in the industry, with features on the BBC and iNewspaper.

The final session will be held on February 19, 2019, with Jonny Prest, creative director at Seed. One can discover how videos can transform the marketing efforts and widen our brand reach. Prest will talk about video marketing, by working hard to get into the mind-set and under the skin of consumers. His break the mould approach to brand strategy and video marketing will be refreshing, fun, and built on common sense. (GK)
