The Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF)’s second annual Apparel & Fashion Career Fair and Expo was a huge success, with more than 400 fashion industry job seekers having attended. With support from the City of Toronto, CAF hosted a select group of most innovative and dynamic employers in Canadian fashion at Bram & Bluma Appel Salon in downtown Toronto recently.

“The energy in the room was palpable,” said Danielle Kuczer, event director at CAF. “We had a fantastic turnout of job seekers thanks to the colleges and universities who encouraged their students to come out to the event.”

Exhibitors at the event included Studio LaBeauté, Redwood Classics Apparel, Avid Apparel, Knix Canada, Wuxly Movement, George Brown College, Fashion Group International, New Circles Community Services and more. Our on-site seminar series was a big hit once again, boasting a roster of top tier panelists including Avid Apparel founder & president Jesse Guth, Kotn brand marketing manager Naomi Nachmani, Passen founder & CEO Stuart Campbell, Momentum HR founder Sarah Yurichuk and many more.

“As a job seeker with a passion for sales and marketing, I had a great time and learned a lot at the career fair on March 10th 2020 - especially from your last seminar with Klaudia, Sarah, and Yvonne,” said Rami Khalifa, an attendee at this year’s event. “Great work and thank you so much for organising.”

This year the seminars covered the most pressing and topical issues facing the Canadian fashion industry today, including sustainability in fashion, future-oriented skills, entrepreneurship and the forecast for the rapidly evolving the industry. For the first time this year, the seminar series also included a panel of recent graduates from Ontario’s top fashion schools, discussing every aspect of post-grad life. Attendees walked away armed with the essential knowledge they will require to thrive in our rapidly-evolving and highly competitive industry.

“It was an extremely well attended job fair!” said Maria Chirichella, Powerhouse’s director of operations. “The CAF organisation attracted the right market for our needs. A diverse group of keen individuals who came in with an open mind, the right questions and interest in our company. We would participate in this event again.”

Next year’s Apparel & Fashion Career Fair and Expo will be held on March 6, 2021, in order to open the event up to working professionals who would also like to attend!

CAF is the national association for Canada's apparel industry. CAF brings together and provides services to firms from across the country, working closely within Canada and abroad with a global network of industry experts, allowing it to create programming that responds to its members’ needs and advocate on the industry’s behalf.
