N American trans-border freight decreases 8.5% YoY in Apr 2025: BTS

  • Out of that, truck freight was worth $82.8 billion—a drop of 8.6 per cent YoY, while railway freight was worth $14.4 billion—a fall of 20.9 per cent YoY.
  • Vessels moved $7.3 billion of freight—down by 25.3 per cent YoY, while airways moved $4.8 billion of freight—up by 3.7 per cent YoY.
The North American trans-border freight in April this year was worth $126.3 billion—an 8.5-per cent year-on-year (YoY) decrease, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).

Out of that, truck freight was worth $82.8 billion—a drop of 8.6 per cent YoY, while railway freight was worth $14.4 billion—a fall of 20.9 per cent YoY.

Pipelines moved $8.9 billion of freight—down by 5.2 per cent YoY, while vessels moved $7.3 billion of freight—down by 25.3 per cent YoY.

Airways moved $4.8 billion of freight—up by 3.7 per cent YoY, a BTS release said.
