Taiwan-based Nan Ya Plastics Corporation is planning to carry out maintenance activities at 2 of its 4 monoethylene glycol (MEG) lines this year.

“Maintenance turnaround is planned at No. 4 MEG line in end of July 2015, and at No. 1 MEG line in October 2015,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

“The lines will remain shut for about one month during maintenance,” the official added.

When queried about the maintenance schedule of No. 2 and No. 3 MEG lines, the official quipped, “Maintenance schedule for these two lines is not yet decided.”

Nan Ya’s MEG plant is located in Mai-Liao, Taiwan, and has four lines. Lines No. 1, 2 and 3 each have a capacity of 360,000 tons per annum, while Line No. 4 has a capacity of 720,000 tons per annum.

MEG is the most widely used chemical from the glycol family. It is an essential raw material and is used as a chemical intermediate for production of polyester fibres and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer. (RKS)
