Netherlands inflation steady at 2.4 per cent in February

Consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 2.4 per cent more expensive in February 2026 than in February 2025, according to data released by Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Inflation remained unchanged from January, matching the flash estimate published on March 3, 2026. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1 per cent compared with January.

Price changes for international flights contributed to higher inflation. Flight prices were 0.2 per cent higher year on year, after being 9.7 per cent lower in January. Clothing and footwear prices also added upward pressure to inflation.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages helped moderate inflation, rising 1.2 per cent year on year in February, compared with a 2.0 per cent increase in January. Seasonal factors, such as clothing sales, can also temporarily influence month-to-month price changes.

According to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), consumer prices in the Netherlands rose 2.3 per cent year on year in February, up from 2.2 per cent in January.

Across the euro area, inflation increased from 1.7 per cent to 1.9 per cent. Energy prices fell in the euro area while remaining stable in the Netherlands, and service price increases were higher in the Netherlands than the euro area average.
