Mageba to unveil new shuttle looms at ITMA-2011

The second machine on display - the newly developed 1 station SL MT 1/180 shuttle loom, flat and tubular fabric, as well as multi-dimensional, technical, and medical fabric, with a fabric width of up to 150 mm can be flexibly manufactured.

Due to the versatile characteristics such as a 2-shuttle weft insertion with a vertically and horizontally movable batten, a V-reed for fabric width variation, variable weft thicknesses, and freely-selectable rapport length, this shuttle loom is particularly appropriate for the development and flexible manufacture of complex fabrics. The weft insertion speed is depends on the weft material and the fabric weave, and is up to 150 wefts per minute.

The 2-shuttle weft insertion, on the one hand, can be operated to duplicate production in cross insertion mode, in which both shuttles simultaneously, alternating, are each led through a shed. On the other hand, both shuttles used in combination, with the vertical and horizontal movable batten allow the manufacture of complex fabrics such as bifurcations and profiles.

The shedding is done by means of a newly-developed loom dobby with 16 shafts. Each shaft is moved by a servo motor and can be controlled individually. That results in a freely-selectable repeat length, which is only dependent on the chosen memory capacity.

The height of the fabric shed can be electronically controlled, so that in combination with the weft insertion, dynamic shedding over the fabric width and optimal shedding opening times for speed optimization can be realized.

The use of servo motors allows not only an energy-efficient and user-friendly operation, but also allows for an optimal coordination of the machine movements, thus providing for product dependent process optimization, for example due to adjustable weft insertion parameters.

This machine type can be optionally equipped with a jacquard with up to 1408 hooks, a variable gap adjustment of the shuttle guide, so that, depending on the fabric width, an optimal weave angle of the weft thread can be attained, and thus an even, stable fabric edge is assured.

Additional components for a qualitatively sophisticated and high-quality fabric manufacture, such as tension-regulated chaining thread feed systems, weft spool monitoring, and weft spool winders can be obtained.

For the efficient manufacture of complex multi-layer fabrics, easy-to-use weaving and visualization software is required. Together with the company ScotWeave, fabric development software for complex shuttle fabric is being developed and offered for sale, which supports the special characteristics and potential of Mageba multiple-weft and multi-axial shuttle looms.
