Polyester filament yarn output to maintain steady growth

Polyester filament yarn output has grown at a steady pace for the past five years, except in 2008. The Chinese textile industry has supplied polyester filament yarn at an annual growth rate of around 15 percent to the expanding home and industrial textile sectors during the period.
In 2011 itself, about 2.9 million tons of additional production capacity of polyester filament yarn has been added, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 14 percent. This rate is, however, slightly less than the growth rate necessary to meet the demand from the downstream sectors.
Actually, the winding equipment for polyester filament yarn is imported from Japan and Germany, and owing to their limited supply, the domestic industry is restrained to maintain its output growth rate at the present 2.5 to 3 million tons every year.
Experts opine that China will be able to maintain the present growth rate of 12-15 percent in the new production capacity of polyester filament yarn for the next three years, which would be easily absorbed by the domestic demand from downstream sectors.
