Wellington Fashion Week behind the local talent

Wellington is set to launch into a week-long showcase of fashion and creativity on the 18th-26th of April 2012 (excluding Anzac day). The event is the first of its kind to hit the capital, highlighting local talent and raw creativity.

Wellington Fashion Week will host multiple designer and media events, along with three high fashion catwalk shows, taking place in the Massey University Old Museum Building's, Great Hall, in conjunction with the Wellington Young Designer Awards.

Wellington Fashion Week's creative director, Cameron Sneddon outlines that the week will enable local fashion designers access to the industry that may not have had a similar platform for their pieces.

“The event is a fantastic opportunity for up and coming fashion designers to work alongside those already firmly grounded within the industry. I want to provide a platform for expression and exposure” he says.

Designers Hermione Flynn and Ashley Fogel, have already confirmed their attendance, and many other exciting designers have expressed great interest in the event. Designer
Enrolments are now open and major sponsors, Massey University, Museum Arts Hotel, Armstrong Prestige Audi and the Edge, are gearing up to get behind the local talent.
