Wide publicity for 'Home Expo India 2012' in Germany

The 'Home Expo India 2012' event, which is to take place in New Delhi during April this year, will be widely publicised by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) at two leading product-specific trade fairs to be held in Germany.
The promotion of Home Expo event at Heimtextil and IMM Cologne is being undertaken by EPCH to promote Indian handicrafts.
India's handicraft exports, which were Rs. 3.86 billion in 1986, have grown immensely since then and were worth Rs. 105.339 billion in 2010-11.
Heimtextil, the famous “Textile Products” fair, which will go on for four days beginning January 11, 2012, at Messe Frankfurt in Germany, presents immense possibilities for promotion of Indian handicraft items and thereby to increase its exports by securing new markets, business links and also new buyers.
Heimtextil is the largest global trade fair focusing on home textiles and is considered a benchmark for international standards for quality design textiles of innovative functionality.
A one of its kind platform for producers, retailers and designers, Heimtextil focuses on new innovations and consumer trends and is visited by several buyers each year to source their requirements.
Germany is one of the leading importers of handicraft textiles and consumer products from India.
India ships handicrafts, including hand-knotted carpets, worth US$ 1198.69 million to the European Union, of which exports to Germany account for US$ 206.98 million or 17.26 percent.
