Dubai-Berlin Fashion Fusion event on Jan 23

Eight young designers from Berlin and Dubai are geared up to present their joint fashion collection at the “Dubai-Berlin Fashion Fusion”, an event featuring fashion inspired by both the cities.
The show being organized by the Goethe-Institute German Language Center in Dubai would be held on January 23 in Dubai. The event is an extension of the 2nd Berlin-Dubai Festival held in October-November last year.
An integral part of the festival is “Young Designers' Fashion Exchange Project” in which designers would feature their joint creations.
In connection with the exchange programme, Dubai-based German-Egyptian designer Mona Fares, together with the Emirati designers Maryam Selaich, Khulood Thani and Madeyya Almazroie, visited Berlin to meet young fashion talents in the city and to have a close look at their work.
In turn, Esmod Berlin International University of Art for Fashion also sent its four fashion design students – Sophie Boehmert, Anna Wilhelmi, Marina Hoermanseder and Lena Braatz – to Dubai to gain first-hand insight about the Emirati fashions.
Such direct interaction resulted in creation of a combined collection by the eight designers. The collection so created, besides presenting a close look into designers' personal style, also echoes the individual styles of both the cities and tries to mingle the traditions, values, visionary ideas and history of the two cities.
“Dubai-Berlin Fashion Fusion” would be setting a precedent of mitigating the gap between the Arabic and Western fashions, and would try to fuse the fashion and styles of two cultures.
