China's yarn output & sales rebound

Chinese textile enterprises reported that their yarn production and marketing rate rebounded slightly in early January, but fabric output continued to decline and yarn inventory levels were high.

This was revealed in a survey by National Cotton Market Monitoring System in a report titled 'Report on inventory survey of China's cotton industry in January 2012'.

As of January 9, yarn production and marketing rate of sample surveyed companies was 94.8 percent, an increase of 2.3 percent from the previous month, and 0.6 percent higher year on year.

Yarn inventory was 19.7 days of sales, down 0.4 days compared with the previous month, but up 6.3 days year on year, representing an increase of 0.9 days over the average level in recent three years.

Fabric production and sales rate was 80.2 percent, a decline of 1.1 percent compared with the previous month and also down 12.2 percent year on year.
