Fajr Fashion Festival showcases Islamic-Iranian designs

Mar '12
The first Fajr Fashion Festival showcasing a whole range of apparels in latest Islamic-Iranian designs concluded in Iran's capital Teheran.

The event saw display of about 300 different designs in the three sections of chador, scarf and manteau.

Besides apparels for display and sale, a number of workshops featuring textile designs, Iranian traditional designs and costume designs also formed a part of the festival.

The event Secretary, Keivan Sohrabi informed that people can also see the new designs on the festival website.

Earlier during the inauguration of the festival, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Hosseini said the design assortment and the reception received by the designers mirrored the keen eye that they have for Iranian fashion.

Further, highlighting the significance of hijab, the Minister said that the designers need to deliver designs in tune with preferences of consumers, particularly youngsters, failing which foreign apparels would dominate the market.

Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs, Hamid Shahabadi, said the main aim behind organizing such an event in the country is to streamline the local fashion, while best exploiting the creative potential of the designers. It also means to promote hijab and to persuade women to wear more elegant apparels, he added.

The event was intended at adding to the national pride, upgrading design standard and encouraging innovations in Islamic-Iranian designs.
