New impulses from Brazil, France at Heimtextil Trendtable

The Heimtextil Trendtable began its work for the 2013/14 season with a number of new members. Six renowned design studios met in Frankfurt am Main on 8 and 9 March 2012 to discuss coming design developments.

This represents the creative foundation for showing future-oriented material, colour and design trends at the next Heimtextil in January 2013. For the first time, trend experts from Brazil also took part in the work of the Heimtextil Trendtable.

With ten months still to go before the next International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles opens its doors from 9 to 12 January 2013, the Trendtable met to formulate the Heimtextil Trends for 2013/14.

For two days, the designers from Brazil, Germany, France, Japan, The Netherlands and the USA discussed the latest trends from the fields of art, fashion and architecture. “Our international Trendtable was distinguished by great creativity and a wealth of cultural aspects, which offered us some fascinating perspectives on tomorrow's design”, reports Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt.

Orbitato is the first Brazilian trend-research institute to take part in the Heimtextil Trendtable. The South Brazilian organisation is represented by Creative Director Celaine Refosco, an expert for both interior design and fashion. This means that greater consideration will be given to design developments in the expanding South American market.

New accents for the Heimtextil Trendtable also come from France with the inclusion of 2G2L Fashion Design and Consulting, a successful international agency. Founders Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud created the high-quality 'Les Garçons Paris' fashion label and are experts for avant-garde fashion themes.

Dutch designer with overall responsibility
During the meeting in Frankfurt, all design agencies presented their own trend forecasts, which were then discussed and modified by the Trendtable as a whole. To this end, the designers draw on a broad spectrum of new materials, textures, colours and patterns from all over the world.

The process results in a common, globally valid trend prognosis for the coming 18 months, which is published in the Heimtextil Trend Book and at the Heimtextil Trend Show during the fair. Every year, a different member of the Trendtable assumes responsibility for preparing the Trend Book and the Trend Show. This year, the work culminating in the presentation at Heimtextil 2013 will be carried out by Holland's Stijlinstituut Amsterdam under Anne Marie Commandeur and her Art Director Arie Vervelde.

Preview: trend presentation at Tendence in August
The results of the Trendtable and the Heimtextil Trend Book 2013/14 will be published at a presentation during the Tendence trade fair in Frankfurt am Main (24 to 28 August 2012).

The following design agencies were involved in preparing the Heimtextil Trends 2013/14:
Stijlinstituut Amsterdam (The Netherlands); 2G2L Fashion Design and Consulting (France); Dan and Gen Namura of Dan Project (Japan); Global Color Research (U.S.A.); Cem Bora; Claudia Herke; Annetta Palmisano.
