Indian Govt proposes extension of TUFs for five years

The beleaguered Indian textile and clothing, weighed down by debt and a slowdown, has some thing to cheer about.

The Government has recommended continuation of one of the most popular schemes – Textile Up-gradation Fund Scheme (TUFs) in to the 12th Five-Year-Plan.

This was revealed by Ms Panabaaka Lakshmi - Minister of State for Textiles in the Rajya Sabha.

The government has allocated Rs 15,586 crores in the 12th Five-Year-Plan against Rs 15,404 crores in the 11th Five-Year-Plan.
