European carpet manufacturer Desso has received a 'red dot product design' award for its 'Visions of' carpet line. The 'red dot' is a quality seal for aesthetic forms and lasting trends, handed out each year during one of the most renowned design contests in the world.

This year, 1,800 manufacturers and designers from 58 countries participated in the contest. A jury consisting of 30 international experts tested and evaluated a total of 4,515 products in Essen, Germany. Desso's 'Visions of' has an elaborate and innovative product design, according to this year's jury.

Desso-CCO Alexander Collot d'Escury: “Developing this award-winning product line was challenging from both an aesthetic as well as a technical point of view. The high level of expertise of our teams in both fields and their close cooperation with several (interior) architects within the Circles of Architects® has paid off. Winning this award, of which we are very proud, is a great acknowledgement of their effort. It's an example of our ambition to be world design leader in carpets by creating floor fashion.”

The award will be handed out at the red dot gala on July 2nd of this year.

Marloes Jongen, Desso designer and Mark de Negro, technical development: “Visions of is a surprising statement on the floor. It is outspoken without being dominant.” As a team we designed a unique combination of techniques that have been brought together in an unusual way. By doing so, we were able to create a unique layered dimension where the flooring experience changes at every angle it is viewed.”

The 'Visions of' range offers a unique blend of patented technology and unparalleled design and consists of three different products, each with a unique design. 'Visions of Flowers' offers a pronounced floral pattern which is incorporated in the carpet tile design. A surprisingly abstract pattern is what gives 'Visions of Shards' its distinctive look, whereas the inspiration for 'Visions of Lines' comes from linear elements in monumental architectural design.
