Mr. Venkatesh further stated that the approach has been that of holistic development of the sector. Cluster based projects have been encouraged wherein small and medium enterprises come together in a textile park to share the common infrastructure facilities. GoK through the textile policy funds a part of common facilities to encourage the integration of the manufacturing chain thereby increasing the market competitiveness.

Apart from cluster projects numerous small and medium enterprises have been extended fiscal support under the policy all across Karnataka. A series of mega projects have been approved in districts like Bellary, Shimoga, Mandya, Bijapura and Bangalore which signifies the confidence of the textile sector in the state.

Karnataka had seen an approximate new investment of more than Rs. 2700 Crores during the last policy period with more than Rs. 2800 Crores in pipeline.

Considering the fact that availability of quality skilled manpower is a pre-requisite for a globally competitive textile and garment industry, and therefore, the policy has provided adequate priority and thrust to development of need-based skills for various sub-sectors of textile industry. GoK through DH&T has been actively pursuing skill development across the state through the state run Skill Development Centers as well as tying up with private training centers to meet the manpower demand of the industry.
