Japanese MMF output down marginally in April

Production of manmade fibres (MMF) fell marginally in the month of April, the Japan Chemical Fibres Association revealed.

April output of manmade fibres reached 83,177 tons down 2.2 percent from a year earlier.

Of this, production of synthetic fibres declined 3.2 percent year on year to 68,809 tons.

Production of acrylic staple fibres (ASF) fell 2.1 percent to 12,625 tons and that of polyester staple fibre (PSF) dipped 8.9 percent to 11,865 tons.

However output of nylon and polyester filament yarn rose in the fourth month of 2012.

Nylon filament yarn rose to 8,341 tons, up 5.6 percent and that of polyester filament yarn grew a marginal 8.9 percent to touch 14,826 tons.
