Barcelona Fashion week unveils new womenswear label 'Sur'

A successful Barcelona Fashion week was crowned on Thursday with the launch of new, luxury womenswear label, Sur.

Sur reverses current trends, producing in and around Barcelona. Creative Director, Laura Figueras, said "some of the best ateliers are based in Spain and that quality is the base of all our work."

Sur builds its collection around core pieces, which combine to provide a multitude of looks, from casual to formal. Directional pieces combine with classics, to provide a versatile and modern wardrobe. The finest silks are combined with fine jersey cotton, and the best wool, to ensure that not only does every piece look luxurious, wearers instinctively feel the quality.

The debut collection is inspired by the island of Capri, and especially Jean Luc Godard´s masterpiece, Le Mépris filmed on the island. It aims at casual elegance, whatever the weather, whatever the occasion.

Though produced in Spain, Sur aims at an international market, looking to partner with select retailers, offering customized or limited edition pieces to allow each retailer to offer something truly unique.

Sur also wants to have a direct relationship with its consumers, meaning it will show its collection in social media, and sell online through its webshop when it launches in September.
