APL to set up Acetic Acid plant in Assam

Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) is planning to set up an Acetic acid plant in Namrup, Assam at an estimated investment of Rs. 3.5 billion.

The plant will have a production capacity of 72,000 tons / year. The company expects to commence operations in the third quarter of 2015.

“APL is in the process of finalizing a technology provider for the plant”, an APL official informed fibre2fashion.

Moreover, the company official revealed that the plant may be a combined production facility for Methanol and Acetic acid with an estimated investment of Rs. 11 billion.

“The decision to add a methanol facility which will have a production capacity of 500 tons / day, will be taken after finalizing the technology provider”, he said.
