Chinese cotton traders look forward for import quotas

1 min read

Imported cotton is piling up at over 30 warehouses in Qingdao Bonded Logistics Area. There are reports that some of the cotton has been stocked in these warehouses for more than a year now.

The large volume of imported cotton in warehouses at ports is not being procured by textile mills owing to quota limitation, besides the downturn in domestic textile sector.

The price difference between imported cotton and domestic cotton in China is currently about 5000 Yuan/ton. So, textile companies would prefer to buy imported cotton if they have quota.

Hence, majority of cotton traders in the country are eagerly awaiting relaxation of quotas for cotton imports.
