To celebrate its fifteenth anniversary, Texworld, which will take place 17 to 20 September 2012 in Paris La Bourget, also wants to recognise two European firms, Heathcoat and Nooteboom. These companies boast 204 and 160 years of existence respectively. They are among the pioneers of European textiles.

Heathcoat, a British company founded in 1808, is 204 years old! Its founder John Heathcoat invented the bobbinet machine in 1808, which revolutionised the tulle industry. Heathcoat is one of the oldest textile manufacturers in the world. However, it is still a pioneering company with its high-performance technical materials.

Its nets, tulles and collection for bridal wear are an absolute must! They have been faithful in their attendance to Texworld since 2005, aware of all the potential offered by the show.

Nooteboom Textiel B.V. is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year. The firm was founded in 1852 in Tilburg, the Netherlands; a town that would become important
Dutch wool centre for the tradition of the local textile industry. Nooteboom, which grew wealthy thanks to this tradition, is open to new technologies and is renowned for its woollen, wool blend and knit products for women’s and children’s ready-to-wear, with one-ofa- kind prints as its hallmark!

These two companies are still going strong. Their longevity and successful transition into the 21st century are very inspiring.

Fake fur will be very much in demand for the collections to come thanks to the trends for soft, swathing garments launched by the McQueen collection for winter 2012/13, which restored some of the lustre to fur and fired the entire fashion world with enthusiasm.

There are also the unbeatable hooded parkas, edged with lovely fake fur for an urban look! Fake fur appeals to designers and buyers alike for its price but above all for the creativity now shown by weavers in offering textured and fur materials to rival natural fur.

Fur Textile from the Netherlands, Benetex from South Korea which has already won over American buyers at Texworld USA, Ecopel and Deluxe Industry from China are among the weavers not to be missed!

They offer materials for jackets and coats as well as trimmings for collars and sleeves, imitation nutria and coyote, with long, dense fur for quilted jackets and parkas!

Interview with Romain Urnel, winner of the Grand Prix for menswear at the Dinard Festival For the last three years, Texworld has co-sponsored the menswear Grand Prix at the Dinard Festival. A decision that stemmed from an awareness of the lack of support for men’s fashion design, even though the menswear market is rapidly expanding.
