The New Zealand Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2013 kick started with all the glitz and glamour of Auckland.

The four-day-long sartorial extravaganza opened with a catwalk presentation by ‘Ruby’ and sister brand ‘LIAM’. Ruby’s exotic collection showcased trendy apparels in soft leopard prints, pink, grey, fur and metallic pleats.

Designed by Emily Miller-Sharma, LIAM’s muted coloured ensembles in khaki and teal with lots of drapey chiffon maxi dresses and deep 'V' necklines mesmerised the onlookers.

Cybèle Wiren’s ‘Nocturne,’ was inspired by the dark, elegant romance of the witching hour. The line featured draped and twisted silk dresses with flashes of cobalt blue and blush pinks, cocoon-shaped tweed and wool jackets, as well as body con outfits combined with armour-like caging and panelling.

Trelise Cooper’s young label ‘COOP’ presented sophisticated-style button-up shirt dresses in bold prints, tailored pants and peplum jackets.

The label ‘Company of Strangers’ offered slouchy knits, leather panelling and sheer floating dresses in purple and tangerine, all designed by Sara Aspinall.

Adrian Hailwood, whose creations are very much in demand in countries like Australia, the US and the UK, featured a range of apparels in dark and metallic colors like gold and purple on the first day of the NZ Fashion Week.

Fashion designer Juliette Hogan showcased a variety of European-style neck and head scarves with quilted jackets.

The day also featured the twelfth time participant of the fashion week, Elisabeth and Neville Findlay created label Zambesi’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection.

The label’s 1980-inspired retro collection showcased pink and V-backed yellow dresses, plaid and Capri length pants, trench coats, as well as velvet tunics in black, grey and silver with a girly hint of pink.
