The UK Armed Forces and the unique culture of the Pacific Islands come together through the London Pacific Fashion Show (LPFS), a showcase of contemporary and traditional Pacific Island Fashion, dance, culture and people in October 2012.Born in Fiji, Ana Lavekau is the founder and producer of LPFS and currently serves in the UK Armed Forces. Lavekau hails from a long line of artisans and the LPFS is a platform on which she can acknowledge both her army life and her cultural heritage.
Lavekau is collaborating with UK based artists and cultural heritage specialist Rosanna Raymond. Raymond is well known for being an icon in the Pacific Arts movement and developing the first mainstream Pacific Island Fashion Show ‘Pasifika’ in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

LPFS brings together talents of internationally acclaimed fashion designers, musician’s, artists, tattooists, performers, and cultural groups. Contributors are traveling from New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Kiribati, Cook Islands, Australia and the U.S.A to perform and showcase their work along side the UK based Pacific community.

Highlights include New Zealand based designers Lindah Lepou and Shona Tawhiao. Multimedia artist, Lindah Lepou is an award winning fashion designer who coined the term, ‘Pacific Couture’ illustrating a distinction between pacific ‘fashion clothing’ worn every day and pacific ‘fashion art’. Shona Tawhiao will be showing her multiple award winning hand-woven high fashion fibre garments and also headlines in New Zealand Fashion Week during September.
