Glen Raven Inc, has been selected as the North Carolina Manufacturer of the Year in the large company category in a program sponsored by McGladrey LLP, the nation's fifth largest assurance, tax and consulting firm, and Fifth Third Bank, in cooperation with the North Carolina Chamber. The award program was initiated to recognize the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. and state economy and acknowledge the success of manufacturers.

"At McGladrey, we are dedicated to serving the manufacturing industry and help to develop programs that will benefit this industry," said Steve Menaker, Carolinas and East Region Manufacturing lead for McGladrey. "We recognized that previously there was not a program to formally recognize the efforts of local manufacturers which led to the development of the North Carolina Manufacturer of the Year Award."

Nominations were submitted online and judged by a panel of contributors to the manufacturing and overall business community in North Carolina. The winners were selected based on holistic accomplishments including growth, jobs creation and innovation.

"We were impressed by both the quality and quantity of nominations we received this year and look forward to growing the program in future years." said Lew Ebert, president and CEO of the North Carolina Chamber.

Nominations for the award included numerous high caliber manufacturers across North Carolina, which is the fourth-largest manufacturing state in the country. Winners were selected in each of three categories:

Large manufacturer (more than $250M)

The Burlington, N.C.-based company is privately held by the descendants of its founder, John Q. Gant.
