Rieter wins Swiss Energy award

The Watt d’Or, the seal of quality for energy efficiency, is the Swiss energy award for „excellent energy projects, plausible concepts and outstanding innovations“. For this year’s award, 74 applications were submitted including an application from Rieter. The submitted project impressed the jury to such an extent, that it decided to make a special award. Rieter was honored under the newly created category “Energy Technologies – special award Export”, as Rieter products are primarily exported.

For decades, Rieter has placed the focus with new developments on energy saving. This is not only one of the most significant environmental factors but also an important component of sustainable cost reduction in the production of yarns. It benefits all spinning plants worldwide that operate Rieter machines.

Small Part with Big Effect

The new suction tube of the ring spinning machine, called “Suction tube ECOrized”, is a small part with a big effect. On long ring spinning machines with more than 1 600 producing spindles it results in an energy saving of up to 10 %. When one considers that the ring spinning machine accounts for practically 60 % of the energy consumption of the entire spinning plant, this 10 % is a considerable saving for every spinning company.

Tribute paid by the Swiss Energy Scene

Hundreds of representatives from the Swiss energy scene and the media attended the presentation of this award in Berne. The suction tube development team from the department „Basic Development“ in the ring spinning sector accepted the prize with great pride. Following the presentation, many participants took the opportunity to admire this new development from Rieter and to talk with the development team.
