China's acrylonitrile imports decline in April'13

China’s acrylonitrile (ACN) imports declined by 15.23 percent in April 2013 to 51,170 tons, compared to import of 60,360 tons in March, according to customs statistics.

Of the total Chinese ACN imports in April, 18,064 tons were imported from South Korea; followed by 9,993 tons from Thailand; 9,036 tons from Taiwan; 7,602 tons form the US; and 6,475 tons from Japan.

The average ACN import price in April was US$ 1,931/ton.

According to customs statistics, China imported 15,757 tons of acrylic fibre in April 2013, down 13.45 percent from 18,206 tons imported in March. During the month, Chinese acrylic fibre exports stood at 403 tons, an increase of 63.82 percent month-on-month.

In April 2013, China imported 3,845 tons of acrylic tow, down 43.82 percent from 6,844 tons imported in March. The average acrylic tow import price in April worked out to US$ 2,553/ton.

Acrylic staple fibre (ASF) imports by China in April 2013 were 11,290 tons, almost same as 11,289 tons of ASF imports in March. The average import price was US$ 3,779/ton.

China imported 621 tons of acrylic tops during the month under review, representing a substantial increase of 548 tons compared with the 73 tons imported in March. The average import price was US$ 3,192/ton.
