'Manila FAME' design event to begin from Oct 17

As the first quarter buying season comes to a close, Manila FAME – The Design and Lifestyle Event, is now gearing up for its 17-20 October 2013 edition. In taking the show to the next level, Manila FAME underlines DesignPhilippines as its core and impetus.

Manila FAME will be on the lookout for new talents and new companies that embody DesignPhilippines and passion and dedication to the “Art of the Craftsman.” It is looking to expand creative expressions and proposition to bring in fresh concepts for today’s contemporary lifestyle.

A Movement on the rise

DesignPhilippines is a movement on the rise. It represents the continuous evolution of the “Art of the Craftsman” through a new vantage point – translating and preserving craftsmanship into contemporary designs that make use of the country’s natural and indigenous materials, which embody the “Soul of the Philippines.”

The world has taken notice and DesignPhilippines now speaks with recognized authority in the global design industry and its momentum must be sustained. Headlining this design-driven Movement are successful international brands such as NATORI, Kenneth Cobonpue, and DEDON. New and exciting designers will also be brought to the fold this October to add their creative vision in expressing DesignPhilippines.

Material virtuosos

The Philippines is an abundant source of raw materials and Filipino artisans have thoroughly maximized the use of these materials such as wood, fiber, shell, and metal in creating unique and exquisite pieces that carry the distinct Philippines brand.

For its October 2013 show, Manila FAME will showcase top-of-the-line products by the country’s craftsmen and material virtuosos that include: outstanding wood furniture, rustic chic products made from various Philippine fibers, intricate shellcraft and cutting-edge metal home décor and furnishings. It will provide its buyers and visitors an expert blend of tradition and innovation, highlighting the country as Asia’s design destination.

Grand platform for high-quality, 100% Philippine-made products

Manila FAME - The Design and Lifestyle Event is a showcase of high-quality export products designed, developed and manufactured in the Philippines. It caters to a wide variety of exceptionally handcrafted products that attracts thousands of trade buyers and visitors in its every edition that represent wholesalers, retailers, distributors, trading firms, mail-order houses, merchandising agents, department stores, and buying houses.

The Show strives to grow and nurture this buyer base with customized services that address the needs of the highly demanding contract market that includes the booming hospitality industry as well as architects, developers, and specifiers.

Organized by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Manila FAME – The Design and Lifestyle Event is the Philippines’ premier trade platform for exports and design.

Since 1983, Manila FAME has nurtured and promoted Philippine creative manufacturers and producers in the global market, consistently featuring top quality export products and unique Philippine craftsmanship in furniture & furnishings, holiday gifts & décor, and fashion. It is one of the longest running trade shows in the Asia-Pacific, featuring the latest Philippine-made creations from artisans and manufacturers and is the only trade event in the country approved by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.
