China's textile exports post double-digit growth in July

China’s exports of textiles and apparel posted a double-digit growth in July 2013, according to the data released by the General Administration of Customs.
 
During the month, China exported textiles and apparel worth US$ 27.672 billion, showing an increase of 15.83 percent year-on-year.
 
Sector-wise, textile exports earned US$ 9.58 billion for China, registering a rise of 19.7 percent year-on-year, while apparel exports fetched US$ 18.1 billion, recording a growth of 13.9 percent year-on-year.
 
From January to July, China’s total textiles and garment exports stood at US$ 154.9 billion, which is an increase of 12.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
Of this, the textile exports were worth US$ 60.73 billion, up 11.5 percent year-on-year, while clothing exports were valued at US$ 94.14 billion, up 13.5 percent year-on-year.
 
During the first seven months of the current year, China imported 210,000 tons of synthetic fibres for textile, which is a growth of 13.5 percent year-on-year in terms of quantity, and 9.4 percent in terms of value.
 
China’s synthetic fibre yarn imports during the seven-month period totaled 234,000 tons, down 2.6 percent year-on-year in volume, but up 1.1 percent in value.
 
In July alone, China imported 40,000 tons of synthetic fibres valued at US$ 110 million, and 34,000 tons of synthetic fibre yarn valued at US$ 180 million, as per the data.
