A sneak peek into a range of traditional lingerie ensembles, worn during the early 20th century, is available at the Conrad Museum, located in the city of Kalispell, Montana, a state in the western US.

Scheduled to run through October, 2013, the exhibit ‘Lingerie Dresses 1900-1920’ features an array of modest, pristine white, lightweight cotton lingerie or summer dresses.

A little detour from the current skimpy lacy innerwear, the exhibits includes eight women’s lingerie dresses, two women’s white lingerie style shirtwaists and seven children’s white cotton and lace dresses.

A less restrictive and affordable form of clothing than its heavy silk counterparts, lingerie dresses, which were introduced in the last quarter of the 18th century, included fuller skirts and loose bodices, which allowed ease of movements to female athletes.
