Textile exports from Spain go up by 16.4% in H1 2013

Spain’s textile exports during the first half of 2013 have increased by 16.4 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
 
According to the monthly data on foreign trade released by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Spain’s textile exports during the period between January and June 2013 reached €5.824 billion.
 
Of which, the exports of garments earned €4.065 billion, depicting a rise of 22.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
 
During the first half of 2013, Spain’s textile imports amounted to €6.874 billion, indicating an increase of 6.3 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
 
Imports in the garment sub-sector during the first half in 2013 grossed €5.103 billion, showing a rise of 7.2 percent year-on-year.
 
According to the data for June 2013, Spain exported textiles worth €931 million, registering a growth of 12.5 percent compared to the same period last year, whereas the imports of textiles fell by 4.3 percent year-on-year to €1.074 billion during the same month.
 
Meanwhile, garment exports in the month of June 2013 fetched €640.5 million, recording a jump of 21.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
Imports of garments by Spain declined 5.9 percent year-on-year to €775.4 million in the month of June 2013.
