Commerce Secretary Gutierrez says CAFTA to benefit textile capital NC

The US textile capital of North Carolina, which is still smarting under the job crunch within the sector, has been told that CAFTA will fetch new business on implementation.

US Commerce Secretary was addressing about 100 businessmen at Greensboro, North Carolina, explaining the benefits for the textiles and other exports under the CAFTA agreement.

He said business would grow through exports to those countries covered under the agreement.

He informed the audience that trade to the CAFTA countries stood at $1.7 billion alone from North Carolina State.

Over the past four years, the State has taken lead over others in the exports to CAFTA countries, he said.
