A visual treat for the fans of British television series ‘Downton Abbey’ is on offer at Oxfordshire’s West Ox Arts Gallery, which is currently hosting an exhibition displaying costumes from the hit show.

Slated to run through September 29, 2013, the 10-piece collection includes extravagant gowns and simple staff uniforms worn by the major characters of the period drama, which is set in the Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey.

Designed by Caroline McFall, the exhibits include a crimson-hued evening dress and a royal blue coat with a floral collar, both worn by Lady Mary Crawley, as well as an embroidered black gown sported by Violet Crawley in the TV show.

In addition to  Lady Mary Crawley’s and Violet Crawley’s outfits, the exhibition also features a simple yet functional dress donned by Mrs. Patmore and a frilly skirt and violet blouse set worn by Lady Rose McClare.

Downton Abbey’s costume designer Caroline McFall has been honoured with a Designers Guild award and an Emmy for her exotic creations in the period drama series, which is gearing up to air its fourth season very shortly.
