For the first time in its history of 19 years, the recently concluded annual Australian sartorial fest Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) incorporated menswear shows in its official women’s catwalk dominated schedule.

Home-grown labels like Autonomy, Jack London, Calibre and Kings of Carnaby featured trendy, smart casual and formal wear collections for men at the nine-day-long event.

The Great Gatsby-esque Roaring Twenties were recreated at Dom Bagnato’s show which featured smartly tailored wool, silk, linen and cotton made men’s clothing at the event.

Based on a palette of azure blue, terracotta and grey, the ensembles included elegant vests and fitted single button as well as double-breasted jackets.

Other than menswear specialists, a talented mix of around thirty designers, retailers and fashion students participated at the fashion event which attracted over 100,000 fashion enthusiasts from different parts of the country.

Womenswear designer Alexi Freeman made a colourful statement with his Python collection at the glamorous soiree. The label’s sports chic pieces were made from luxe silk, leather and georgette materials.
