Arch Academy of Design has shared a proposal with IFFTI (International Federation of Fashion & Technology Institutes) & LCF (London College of Fashion) for the cultural & economic revival of historic Sanganeri natural dyeing & hand-block printing techniques.

Keeping in view the gradual Shift from synthetic stuff to natural products, Increasing Health & Quality consciousness & Social ethics among consumers, and to address the major issues like Disintegration of vulnerable  communities (craft artisans) in the value chain due to vanishing heritage crafts,  and Adverse implications of synthetic dyes on ecology & humanity.

The proposal is selected by the London College of Fashion and Ms. Archana Surana, will be presenting the note at IFFTI Fashion Colloquium.

The project will generate livelihood avenues for the target communities to cause socio-economic empowerment of the primary producers (artisans living at the bottom of the pyramid) and facilitate accessibility of the Hi-Fashion natural products to the discerning markets.

This will be achieved by providing required support structure and creating a conducive environment so as to develop a sustainable & replicable development model. The project adopts a triple bottom line approach – Social, Economical & Environmental to ensure sustainable livelihoods.

In furtherance to achieve the objectives, Arch Academy of Design has made remarkable efforts toward development of Hi-Fashion Natural Dyed clothing through engagement of subject experts & promising stakeholders like Badshah Miyan (Master Craft Artisan - Natural Dyeing & Printing & National Awardee), Mr. Brij Udaiwal (Master Craft Artisan & National Awardee – 1991), Mr. Vikram Joshi (leading Exporter of Sanganeri hand-block printed textiles), Mr. Anuj Sharma (renowned Fashion Designer & expert in Draping techniques), Ms. Chandramani Singh (famous Art historian) to name few.

Arch is now looking forward towards actual implementation of the project at ground (Sanganer textile cluster as area of demonstration) in collaboration with potential project partners across the globe.
