Gulf designers show at Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience

A talented group of Gulf-based designers showcased their collections at the just held inaugural edition of Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience, a unique platform to promote raw Middle Eastern talents and establish Dubai as a global fashion destination.

A brainchild of the Editor-in-Chief, Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani, the event, which took place at Dubal Mall, highlighted creations, selected under the magazine’s strict international standards, from emerging Middle Eastern and foreign labels under its Fashion Catwalk schedule which was screened across the mall’s multimedia displays before an audience of over 400,000 people.

Qatari talent Wadah Al Hajri, Bahrain’s Lulwa Al Amin and Saudi Arabian brands Razan Alazzouni and Ashi Studio along with Italian designer Andrea Incontri, Irish-born Simone Rocha, Nigerian Ituen Basi and Russian label Esme Vie’s designers Julia Voitenko and Daria Golevko showcased their eclectic creations at the programme.

In addition to the runway shows, the soiree also featured short films on eco-fashion projects carried out by world-famous names like Green Carpet by Livia Firth, Carmina Campus, Alcantara, Edun-Diesel and Estethica by the British Fashion Council.

Additionally, environment-friendly collections by famous brands, such as Christopher Ræburn, Organic by John Patrick and The North Circular by Lily Cole, as well as Vogue’s Scouting Manifesto-chosen ensembles from up-and-coming stylists were displayed under the same event.

Other than the catwalk and sustainable fashion showcases, the soiree also hosted two exhibitions—one featuring haute couture designs by iconic couturiers, including Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Armani, Valentino, Giambattista Valli, Chanel, Dior, Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy, and the other exhibiting the most incredible Vogue Italia covers over the past 25 years.
