For the first time since its inception in 1887, Bendigo Art Gallery, located in the south-east Australian state of Victoria, is going to host a travelling exhibition straight from the FIDM Museum at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Los Angeles.

Scheduled to take place from October 26, 2013 to February 2, 2014, the event will celebrate the works of the world’s most influential designer labels and couturiers from the post-punk era (1980s) to present.

Tagged as ‘Modern Love’, the forthcoming exhibit will feature a selective collection of nearly 60 haute couture and exclusive apparel designs, reflecting the changing fashions of the past 40 years.

Labels like Thom Browne, Chanel, Comme des Garçons, Dior, Ferragamo, Tom Ford, Jean Paul Gaultier, Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson, Patrick Kelly, Helmut Lang, Monique Lhuillier, Louboutin Issey Miyake, Moschino, Thierry Mugler, Hiroaki Ohya, Zac Posen, Prada, Christian Francis Roth, Ralph Rucci, Valentino, Versace, Vivienne Westwood and YSL will be displayed at the event.

Jointly curated by the FIDM Museum curator Kevin Jones and Bendigo Art Gallery curator Leanne  Fitzgibbon, the exhibits will include t-shirts and Adidas high top runners as well as a specially commissioned Alexander McQueen bustle gown, featuring panniers under a layered crinoline skirt decorated with lace peacock motifs all over, from the LA museum.

To be organized in collaboration with Bendigo Art Gallery and the FIDM Museum, the exhibit will also host a range of programs and events for the visitors.
