The Italian cotton producing firm I Cotoni Del Firello has announced plans to set up a new ginnery in the West African nation of Ivory Coast, where it is represented by its subsidiary I Cotoni CI SARL.

With the construction of this ginnery, the firm would switch its activities from cotton producing to cotton processing, reports agenceecofin.com.

The construction of the plant is expected to not only boost the cotton sector of the country but also create more jobs for people in the cotton sector.

Concerned about the developments in the agricultural sector, Fabrizio Iseni, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Ivory Coast, would also be involved at all levels of the construction of the new ginnery.

The Honorary Consul would also be hosting meetings with major textile investors who are interested to support the Ivory Coast in its ambition to become an emerging country by 2020.

Established in 1995, I Cotoni Del Firello belongs to the group Eusebio SPA, which specializes in the manufacture of knitting. The company specializes in yarn production and cultivation as well as distribution of raw cotton and cotton seed.

The company’s subsidiary I Cotoni CI SARL has already invested 3 to 4 billion CFA francs in Ivorian cotton.

Ivory Coast is the third largest cotton producer in West Africa. Last season, the country managed to produce 360,000 tons of cotton.
