China invites applications for 2014 cotton import quotas

The Government of China has announced that domestic textile companies can apply for 2014 cotton import tariff quota by October 30, 2013.
 
However, the applicants have to meet some basic conditions. The companies applying for cotton import tariff quota must provide a copy of business license, and should have good financial situation and tax records, which need to be provided in 2012 and 2013 relevant information section.
 
The companies would also be required to provide 2011 to 2013 customs, industry and commerce, taxation, inspection and quarantine non-violation records.
 
Moreover, the cotton imports should not violate the Interim Measures behaviour of import tariff quotas of agricultural products.
 
The companies applying for quotas should have more than 50,000 spindles for cotton spinning.
 
They would also be required to submit their import performance in 2013.
 
The application would be scrutinized after the October 30 deadline and the National Development and Reform Commission will allocate import tariff quota to end users through authorized agencies on January 1, 2014.
