ModaLisboa highlights the best of Portuguese fashion

Once again the crème da le crème of Portuguese fashion was highlighted at the just concluded 41st edition of ModaLisboa, commonly known as Lisbon Fashion Week.

Held under the tagline Siempre Ahora, which translates to ‘ever now’ in English, the event saw 20 innovative catwalk collections created by nearly 18 designers from Portugal, as well as one fashion talent ( Kamil Sobczik) from Poland and a Brazilian swimwear label Cia Maritima.

Portuguese design expert Luis Buchinho featured a feminine Spring/Summer 2014 line at the event. Based on a soft palette of greys and whites, the range included a variety of airy versatile mix-and-match pieces.

Fashion label Pedro Pedro designed its latest runway presentation, which was comprised of light parkas and cloaks, in hues of old beige roses, vast blue seas and rich green forest trails.

Clothing brand Richard Black incorporated patterns and motifs of geometry, coral, cacti and marbles in its Salt collection and label Páteo Gale infused varied coloured stones in its patterned, lightweight and transparent fabric made ensembles.

Designer Aleksandar Protic combined the sensibilities of urban minimalism in his leather detailed outfits in myriad neutral shades whereas sportswear brand White Tent, from designer duo Evgenia Tabakova and Pedro Noronha, presented a heavy on ruffles and tie-dye collection.

Young designers’ competitions, lectures and documentaries were also organized on the sidelines of the glitzy style-studded catwalk shows of the main event.
