Invista Waynesboro plant celebrates mishap-free year

“This outstanding accomplishment demonstrates our employees’ continued focus on a safe work environment,” said Stuart Carter, INVISTA Waynesboro site manager. “All employees should be proud of this achievement as it demonstrates their attention to an injury-free workplace, consistent with INVISTA’s strong commitment to excellence in environmental, health and safety performance.”

This milestone is also significant because of increased activity associated with the installation of new equipment at the site. In November 2012, INVISTA announced a $10 million capital investment to install two natural gas boilers at its Waynesboro site. The increased activity at the site further exemplifies employees’ focus and dedication to safety.

The INVISTA site has more than 400 employees.

INVISTA’s Waynesboro, Va., manufacturing site began operations in 1929. Today the facility produces LYCRA fiber for apparel and LYCRA HyFit fiber for personal hygiene products. The site also includes the company’s global research and development center for spandex, and is credited as the birthplace to spandex.
