Spanish fashion brands to show at Puerto Rico High FW

Spanish fashion brands Custo Barcelona and Maya Hansen, owned by designers Custo Dalmau as well as Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen, will be the star presenters at the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week (PRHFW).

Starting from October 23, 2013, the event, which primarily aims at promoting local design talents, will feature two collections from the highly popular international labels.

A regular at PRHFW, the clothing label Custo Barcelona, which owns two stores in the north-eastern Caribbean nation, will showcase a slightly modified version of its Spring/Summer 2014 collection, which was first staged at the New York Fashion Week this year.

Designer Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen will feature her latest colourful S/S-14 range, originally featured at the just concluded Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, at the Puerto Rican event.

In addition to the foreign designers, the annual Caribbean fashion event will also display eclectic creations from a bevy of famous and emerging Puerto Rican talents, such as Jaer Caban and David Antonio.

Scheduled to be held at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, San Juan, the soiree will also conduct ‘The New generation 2013’ competition which will show ensembles from ten finalists.

Speaking on the competition, one of the jurors, who also is a highly acclaimed designer and a professor of fashion design, Lisa Thon, said PRHFW is the most important platform in Puerto Rican fashion industry which incorporates top talents and establishes novel designers as well as opens new avenues for emerging designers who are starting their careers.

The event was started by its current President Caridad Fernández in the year 2005.
