Bolivian museum's 27th meeting focuses on art of textiles

The art of textiles has been the main focus of the 27th Annual Meeting of Ethnology, currently being held at the National Museum of Ethnography and Folklore (MUSEF), located in the city of La Paz, in Bolivia.
 
Under the theme ‘Rise of the objects—Textile Approach’, the conference has been devoted to analyzing the textile sector in the country from the perspective of mythological language of the Amerindian people (indigenous people of Americas).
 
Researchers, academics and craftsmen from Bolivia, Panama and Peru are participating in the ongoing event at MUSEF, where several seminars on topics such as Chains of Production, Raw Material Procurement, Development of Textile Products, Social Life of Purpose, are being conducted during the course of the five-day meeting, which would run till October 25, 2013.
 
The MUSEF is also exhibiting hundreds of never-seen-before textile treasures of its collection from the department of culture, including archaeological textiles and instruments from the 600 to 1532 period, historical textiles from the 1532-1900 period and ethnographic textiles from 1900 to the present. 
 
The Museum will also host a fashion show on October 24, where renowned Bolivian designers such as Fatima Molina, Claudia Perez, Luisa Lima, Maria Paty, Manuel Sillerico, Joyce Martin and Maggy Cossio would be showcasing garments for men, women and children, made from Bolivian raw materials, Camelid fibers and cotton.
