Once again, the Brazilian fashion scene has become alive with the advent of country’s major sartorial event Fashion Rio, which kicked off with a range of winter-2014 collections from a bevy of talented designers.

Designer Patricia Viera opened the soiree with a floral print heavy line inspired from multiple sources, such as the spiritual leader Chris Griscom, works of American artist Georgia Totto O’Keeffe and the Light Institute of Galisteo, New Mexico.

Based on a palette of orange, terracotta, toffee, coffee, emerald, cobalt blue and pink blush, the range, which included skirts, dresses, jackets and sweatpants, is made from variedly textured leather, such as navalhados, laser cut, hand-painted and metal studded.

Architectural structures of Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha played inspiration behind fashion brand Alessa’s new collection. Made using materials like tweed, chiffon, organza, satin and stamped neoprene, the 18-piece line was decorated with embroidery and geometric jacquard patterns.

Designer Victor Dzenk drew inspiration from Marrakesh, Oriental designs and the 1980s punk era for his latest three-dimensional impression giving catwalk presentation. Replete with stones and bugle beads embroidery, the ensembles included sheer shortdresses, eye print t-shirts and fluttering large sleeved caftans for women. The range’s menswear pieces included wide jackets, black suits and blazers.
