A forthcoming spring season exhibition, to be held at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), will once again bring the noted Italian fashion maestros of all times under the spotlight.

Dubbed as ‘The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945 – 2014’, the exhibit, curated by Sonnet Stanfill, will chart the evolution of Italy’s fashion history since the post Second World War era to the present day.

Scheduled to take place from April 5 to July 27, 2014, the event aims to explore the role of key individuals, including menswear and womenswear designers, as well as organisations that have helped in shaping the country’s reputation of high technical and material expertise.

The visitors will also get an up and close view of the nation’s transformation from the end of war ruins to the luxurious 1950’s Sala Bianca catwalk shows in Florence as well as the impact of 1950s and ‘60s Hollywood movies that ultimately helped in putting Italian fashion on top of the world map.

More than 90 couture ensembles and fashion accessories, designed by leading Italian fashion houses including Simonetta, Pucci, Sorelle Fontana, Valentino, Gucci, Missoni, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Versace, will be displayed at the exhibit.

The pièce de résistance among the expansive display would be a Gattinoni designed dress, worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1956 film ‘War and Peace’, shot in Italy.

Another highlight of the gorgeous exhibit will be a Mila Schön dress, donned by Jackie Kennedy’s sister, Princess Lee Radziwill, at the American writer Truman Capote’s 1966 Black and White Ball.
