Propylene prices dip in Europe and US last fortnight

The prices of propylene declined in the European and the US markets last fortnight ending October 31, 2013, due to weak feedstock prices coupled with dull demand sentiments in the region and poor energy market. However, they showed mixed trend in Asia due to weak upstream energy value coupled with bearish buying sentiments in the region.
 
In Far East Asia, average propylene price in the fortnight ending October 31 was US$ 1390/ton, which was a rise of 1.09 percent over US$ 1375/ton average price noted in the fortnight ending October 15. On a year-on-year basis, propylene price rose by 8.63 percent in October 2013.
 
In Southeast Asia, average propylene price was US$ 1415/ton during the last fortnight ending October 31, down 1.39 percent from average price of US$ 1435/ton in the previous fortnight. The price further decreased and was assessed at US$ 1375/ton on November 7.
 
In Europe, the average price of propylene was € 1055/ton last fortnight, showing a decrease of 0.47 percent compared to previous fortnight’s average price of € 1060/ton.
 
Similarly in the US, average propylene price dropped by 2.59 percent to 56.5 cents/pound last fortnight, compared to 58 cents/pound in the previous fortnight.
