Fashion Rio closes with Brazilian designer's beauty jeans

The fourth and final day of Brazil’s major sartorial fashion event Fashion Rio came to a close with Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch unveiling a new pair of jeans titled ‘beauty jeans’, made from high-tech denim that combats cellulite so that its wearers can maintain their beach bodies while wearing it.

The anti-cellulite jeans created by the designer harnesses body heat and turn it into infrared rays that stimulate cellulite-combating micro-circulation, and helping the wearers to fight cellulite and maintain their physique.

Designer Alexandre’s collection featured models in skinny jeans and cat suits made from a patchwork of indigo and grey denim with a metallic sheen, making them look like tough street-wise urban incarnations of medieval knights in suits of denim-made armor.

The fashion soiree’s last day opened with creations from Andrea Marques’ collection inspired by the surrealism of modern divas with a mix of soft fabrics like silk and heavy fabrics, like velvet, with neutral tones illuminated by colors like pink and yellow. Key pieces from the collection included elongated jackets, flowing robes, mid length skirts and cropped trousers.

Continuing the finale of Fashion Rio, womenswear designer label Daughters of Gaia by Marcela Calmon and Renata Salles, showcased a collection on the themes of ‘maturity’ and ‘out of cocoon’, with dresses in velvet, and transparent skirts that blended into the blouses with plunging necklines, all in the shades of black, white, grey, blue and wine.

The show closed with Brazilian designer label Auslander’s winter 2014 collection, inspired by the theme ‘Green Oil’ and ‘Journey to the future’. Designer Ricardo Brautigam from the label showcased creations in monochromatic shades of white, grey, black and green. Thaila Ayala from the label stuck closer to the theme and had models parading in white cloaks made from resin inspired from science fiction films, hoodies, hot pants, blouses and skirts, all in the color palette of white, black and metallic silver.

The next edition of Fashion Rio is scheduled to take place from April 8 to 12, 2014.
